So this stupid Nintendo ShortCuts contest had chosen ten finalists and shit. They all suck. I'm sure they worked hard and everything, but they just arent that good(though some did make me laugh. I did kind of like the zelda one.). I wrote a PSA for the contest but couldnt film it due to lack of resources(I was like if I cant have it perfect I cant do it). Oh well, since its done you can read it.
Oh, there are some things I should mention. Not everything in there was to remain the same. The games I wrote in there werent going to be the final games mentioned when filmed. There was gonna be way more games named.
Anyways.
My PSA:
(looking at trinkets by fireplace. Turns around.)
Oh hello. I didn’t see you come in. My name is Steven McCallister and I’m here to talk to you about something important. Yes. Video games. Now, I’m not going to talk about the controversy videogames are under for things like school shootings, or the amount of blood and gore games display when you blow them away with all kinds of explosive high tech weaponry, or its effect on our minds, but rather, the importance of its history. The growing youth of today loves to play videogames. Its true. But there is a problem. They play, not knowing of its humble beginnings, believing we’ve always been in a 3d world with bump mapping, Silky smooth textures, and the ability to say rude things online while playing Halo, and never knowing of such classics as Gunstar Heroes, The original Mario Brothers, Yars Revenge, Mega Man, well before it turned into a pokemon wannabe. Burger Time. The list goes on and on. Much longer than the time I have to speak with you. Now, I hope you noticed some of the games I have named games were not available on Nintendo consoles. That’s because Nintendo was not the only company in the world that made games worth playing back in the day, and to this day still isn’t. But Nintendo understands the importance of educating our children properly in the history of video games. Nintendo not only understands. Nintendo cares. About video games. About you. About the past, the present, and the future. Nintendo is not saying “buy my console,” but rather, is saying “Buy any console you like. Support your preferred console making company, but know that we offer you a selection of classic games worth playing at an affordable price, and the list plans on growing. We aren’t releasing video games. We are releasing… History.” So to end. Please, educate your children properly about videogames. So pull out that old dusty Nintendo, or that Atari from your closet, put in a classic game, and educate your children so they better understand that though games are a fun and safe source of entertainment, they also have a history worth telling to the generations up and coming, and always will. From Nintendo, to me, to you, with love. Take care.
*Fade to black. Nintendo logo comes up. Coin sound. end*
Thats it.
Congrats to those who are finalist!
